I am a professor of political science and the director of the International Nongovernmental and Nonprofit Organizations Studies program at Rhode Island College in Providence, R.I.

My second book, NGOs in International Politics, co-authored with Shamima Ahmed and David Potter, was published by Lynne Reinner Press. I have also been published in the Journal of Human Rights, the European Journal of International Relations, Case Research Journal, Radical Teacher, the International Journal of Minority and Group Rights, and the International Journal of Children’s Rights. My current research examines the role of the state in governing sex and sexuality, especially communities of LGTBIQ+ and sex workers.
